2022 Safety and Standards Chairman Election Biographies
My name is Ken Cardwell. I have been with Southwest for 22 years. I started in BWI in 1999 and moved to FLL in 2015. I became a Shop Rep With Local 18 in 2017. In my 5 years as a Shop Rep I’ve become more familiar with the workings and procedures of AMFA. I feel that I am a good candidate and the right person for the position of Local Safety and Standards Chairman. I would appreciate your support.
Jose L. Munoz, began his aviation career with LAN Airlines in Miami FL (Now LATAM Airlines) on Jan
2013 right after obtaining his A&P certificate from George T. Baker Aviation. In July 2018 he joined
Southwest Airlines in Houston, and shortly after bid to Orlando Florida.
Prior to starting his aviation career, he worked for EE&G Environmental Services for over 10 years,
where he was responsible for the condition, safety, and availability of construction heavy equipment,
and personal safety equipment. In addition he was an FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) safety
training designee, which made him responsible of training and certifying personnel to work safely near,
and around active railroad tracks.
While working there he also obtained the Osha 40 HR Hazwoper Certification that provided him with
training in a wide range of health and safety topics relevant to hazardous waste operations, including:
Types of hazards, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) levels of protection.
His high level of experience in occupational safety gives him the confidence that he will be of great
service to our union as your Safety and Standards Chairman.
